Strengthen My Faith, O Lord

What circumstances are you facing today that requires you to stand strong in faith?

Ed Note: I have to drive over three snowy mountain passes tomorrow to get Mary back to UNC in Greeley, CO.  With the storm that came in this morning I’m a bit apprehensive about what the driving conditions will be like tomorrow.  This faith prayer is just what I need to get my eyes on God, not circumstances or fears.  This prayer is adapted from one I found on the internet.

I know God is in control and has known all along what will be happening and has already made a way.  Nevertheless, not my will Lord, but yours.  Strengthen my faith.  Read on.

Hebrews 11:1  Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.  (New Living Translation)

Faith Prayer:

As I come before you today, I think of all the things that I face, the one thing that I need more of, is greater faith in you. Faith believes in what I can’t see. Faith is what helps me to overcome. Faith is what allows me to defeat my many fears… yet, I still struggle in so many ways to trust you and rest in my faith in you.

Sometimes I live by faith mindlessly, taking for granted all of my daily blessings. I don’t even express daily gratitude for all you the little things you do for me each day. I assume that the sun will rise each day and set each night, yet when it comes to taking you at your word, I struggle. Please forgive me Father, for my doubts and unbelief.

Lord, as the world seems to  spiral out of control in so many ways,  you remain faithful and true. You never change. You never go back on your word, you are the same yesterday, today and tomorrow.  I see more than ever, however,  my need to have faith in you alone, Lord.

Help me to be like the heroes of faith who went before me.   By an act of faith, Abraham traveled to an unknown place that would become his home. When he left he had no idea where he was going. By faith, barren Sarah was able to become pregnant, even though she was an old woman at the time, because she believed you would do as you promised.

Lord, help me to know you so well, that trust and faith is always my first response to my fears. May my faith be strengthened today and every day to continue to quench the “why’s” and the “what if’s” and the other questions that come into my mind when I don’t understand or don’t like my circumstances.

Let me experience your peace that passes all understanding to know that I know that I know you are in control of all things, and for that reason alone I can continue to trust you and not rely on my own insights.

Strengthen my resolve Lord each day, to walk by faith not by sight so I might stand firm against all that comes against me.   I give you my heart and my life. I want to please you and serve you Lord and be a strong and courageous  woman of faith.

Thank you Lord that you go before me now, You have already made a way, Thank you for leading and guiding me for your glory.  Help me to Keep my focus on Your promises and your protection and your provision for today, tomorrow and everyday.  AMEN!

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

P.S.  I’ll let you know on Monday how the travel went.

The drive went well. But the temperatures were so cold my window washer fluid froze and there were times I literally could not see the road.  So I had to pull over and wash the windshield with snow.  It was scary, and God was faithful.  I am so grateful for a safe trip over and back.
